In Nassau, longtime prosecutor Anne Donnelly has declared victory against Democratic State Sen. Todd Kaminsky in the battle for the open DA’s seat.
According to the Board of Elections in Nassau County, Donnelly totaled 155,554 (60.22 percent) of the vote, versus 102,666 (39.74 percent) for Kaminsky. In Suffolk, Sini conceded after Tierney quickly garnered more than 57 percent of the vote to take an insurmountable lead.
“Wow! What an amazing victory. I can’t thank you enough for placing your trust in me to serve as the next Nassau County District Attorney,” Donnelly said.
“Together, we sent a message that Nassau County backs the blue, believes in law and order, and puts the safety of our communities first. Again, thank you for your support.”
Meanwhile, in Suffolk, incumbent Democrat Timothy Sini has conceded to Republican challenger Ray Tierney, a former federal prosecutor, after he took a sizable lead early on in the race on Election Day.
“Thank you Suffolk County for electing Ray Tierney!,” his team posted on social media. “He is humbled by the faith you have placed in him and looks forward to getting to work as our next District Attorney.
“Change is coming and public safety will be restored. Ray will lead with honesty, integrity, and transparency.”
